Temple festivals are and have always been, the backbone of Kerala’s popular culture. They are the culmination of the people’s involvement with faith and entertainment, often intertwined with theater, music, folk-art, ritualistic art, and several classical art forms.
Vibin Balakrishnan’s work meticulously documents the deep-rooted relationship of the common man with ritualistic practices. His work showcases the veracity and vividness of various temple art forms as well, all put together in the context of popular participation and their innocent soulfulness.
