Bell & Howell/Canon Canonet 19 is a 35mm 24×36 rangefinder camera. It is the first device of the brand to bear the name of Canonet. And even if the distributor Bell & Howell renamed it Canonet 19 for its needs, its serial name remains “Canonet”. In the Canonet range, the figure will always correspond to the maximum aperture of the lens. It is a speed priority automatic, because of its selenium cell around the lens (EE > Electric Eye), it can however be disengaged manually.
Lens: Canon SE f1.9 45mm. The viewfinder has a 45mm frame with automatic parallax correction. The rangefinder image is rectangular, pink, well contrasted and large. In the viewfinder, there is also the indication of the opening, in the automatic mode. The mechanical view counter appears in a window next to the trigger. The shutter COPAL-SV is programmed for speeds from1 sec to 1/500 (+ B). Mechanical self-timer and X and M synchro-flash are also available.
